Students Explore Japanese Kokedama Technique at Asangaon Agricultural Technical CollegeBack to School in the New Year
Students of Asangaon Krishi Tantra Vidyalaya (Agricultural Technical College), located in the Wangaon-Asangaon region of Dahanu Taluka, participated in a hands-on training workshop on the traditional Japanese Kokedama gardening technique.
Under the guidance of expert Ms. Sunita Konkar, students creatively prepared decorative Kokedama balls using various local plants and natural materials. They experimented with the art of crafting Kokedama using moss and clay, transforming it into an aesthetic home décor and income-generating product.
What is Kokedama?
Kokedama is a traditional Japanese technique of planting where the root system is wrapped in moss and bound with string, transforming plants into ornamental hanging décor.
This training helped students understand sustainable indoor gardening, alternative soil-less methods, and eco-friendly urban agriculture practices.
